Anchor roller on bow Plan

Close up  Finished anchor roller (shadow makes the roller look crooked)

The body was made of laminated scraps of 5mm ply.

The roller was a piece of 1" hardwood dowel drilled for 1/4". A piece of 1/4 x 20 treaded rod and two nuts became a manrel to turn it in an electric drill motor against a rotating saw blade to get the hour glass shape (BE CAREFUL). Final finishing was with sandpaper and varnish. A short piece of 1/4" steel rod was used as a axle, but stainless, nylon or brass would be preferable.

A notch could be cut into the bow plate of the Flapdoodle shown at the top of the page to reduce the overall height and fastened with brass screws. A variation of this might be to extend it farther forward for additional protection to the bow.
